NVIDIA Jetson News – June 2023

There’s been plenty of fun news from the Jetson community over the last several weeks. On the ultra-pro front, NVIDIA will begin shipping the Jetson AGX Orin Industrial Module in July. Here’s the official NVIDIA announcement article which talks about discusses all of the features which make the AGX Orin Industrial the go to for demanding environments. Here’s what the beastie looks like with out a thermal solution:

It’s a serious little machine with an operating lifetime of 10 years. If you are designing for harsh environments, it’s certainly worth checking out.

The main idea here is that product developers create their applications using the AGX Orin Developer Kit. Then they deploy on the AGX Orin Module, commercial or industrial version. Note that this now means that the full Orin product hardware line is available.

Educational Discount for Jetson Orin Developer Kits

NVIDIA is now offering educational discounts on the Orin Developer Kits. Qualified students and educators can get the Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit for $399 (USD) and the Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit for $1,699 (USD). Here’s the official announcement.

Speaking of education, the “Hello AI World” series from Dustin Franklin at NVIDIA updates with “Deploying Edge AI Web Apps on Jetson Orin Nano“. The update adds WebRTC support for low latency video streaming along with several examples of building edge AI web apps. There’s a whole lot of goodness of new features, too long to list here. This project has been going on for many years, and is certainly THE place to get started in AI for the Jetson. Go over there to get up to speed!

Isaac Too!

NVIDIA announced at Computex that the NVIDIA Isaac Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) is now opening up for early access. https://developer.nvidia.com/isaac/amr The blurb:

The AMR platform is an end-to-end autonomy stack that enables a fleet of coordinated robots to function robustly and safely among humans in large, highly dynamic, unstructured environments.

NVIDIA also announced that the NVIDIA Carter Robot. The Carter Robot is a reference robot required to experience the Isaac AMR end-to-end stack. It will be available in July.
